IAME specialise in providing contextualised and bespoke training packages to the automotive industry.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL is the formal recognition of a person's current skills and knowledge, no matter how, when or where the learning occurred. This is a complex process as it requires time, research, varied evidence and comparative studies on the part of an assessor to ensure the appropriate evidence is submitted to inform the judgment.

Steps for the RPL Process:

  1. Applicant completes Application Form.
  2. Applicant returns Application to IAME for review by IAME Assessor.
  3. Once approved IAME sends an Enrolment Form for completion and return.
  4. Once returned IAME enrols Student and sends relevant RPL Kit.
  5. Student to prepare Evidence Portfolio and submit to IAME it for assessment.
  6. If Gap Training required it is to be undertaken once the RPL evidence has been approved.
  7. IAME issues Statement of Attainment or Qualification within 4 – 6 weeks of receipt of results.

Third Party Skills Assessments - Western Australia

In Western Australia, motor mechanics MUST hold a Motor Vehicle Repairer’s Certificate to carry out any repair work on light and heavy motor vehicles.

To assist the Automotive industry in Western Australia, IAME conducts Third Party Skills Assessments (capstone testing) to assist motor mechanics in obtaining a Motor Vehicle Repairer’s Certificate.

This assessment is available to candidates who can demonstrate the required knowledge, but do not hold the prescribed qualification for the class of repair work as per the “WA Department of Commerce, Licensing Division”.

A Third Party Skills Assessment is one of the pathways to get a Motor Vehicle Repairer’s Certificate where a candidate may hold an overseas qualification, or do does not have any formal qualification but has significant experience in the field.
