AUR20220 - Certificate II in Automotive Air Conditioning

Location: Nationally within Australia. 

Delivery: Blended Face-to-Face and RPL.

ARC TRAINEE AUTOMOTIVE AIR CONDITIONING LICENCE REQUIRED 

All Students MUST obtain an ARC Trainee (Classroom Only) Automotive Air Conditioning Licence (CL000) to work on air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and handle a refrigerant in a classroom setting only.

Note: The licensee cannot handle refrigerant outside the classroom setting. This licence is valid for the period of training.

A Refrigerant Handling Licence MUST be held by any person who carries out work in relation to refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) equipment.

Carrying out work in relation to RAC equipment means to do anything with a fluorocarbon refrigerant, or a component of RAC equipment, that carries the risk of refrigerant being emitted, including: decanting the refrigerant, manufacturing, installing, commissioning, servicing or maintaining RAC equipment or decommissioning RAC equipment.


If you are currently involved in the Automotive Industry, have a Trade Qualification or are an Experienced Person who is currently working in the trade and want to become involved in servicing or repairing air conditioning systems, then the Institute of Automotive Mechanical Engineers can assist you in attaining the Certificate II required for Automotive Air Conditioning licencing.


The Training Program consists of 11 Units of Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) and 2 Units of Gap Training (see below).

For the RPL component you will need to provide relevant evidence to support your knowledge of the 11 units.

This may include your Trade Certificate / Card, current Job Cards or any other certificates or qualifications which you may already hold. 


For the Gap Training component, you have the option to attend training at our Training Centre in Auburn NSW or onsite at your Workshop.


Onsite Equipment Requirement:

Please be advised that the following Equipment is required to be available onsite, at your premises, during the Air Conditioning Practical Training/Tasks:

  • 2 x Motor Vehicles or Stationary Engine with A/C
  • PPE Equipment including Safety Gloves, Safety Googles, Work Uniform and Work Boots.

Equipment:

  • A/C Recovery Machine
  • R134a Gas
  • Vacuum Pump
  • Electronic Leak Detector (optional)
  • 2 x Thermometers
  • Hand Tools
  • Gas Analyzer (optional)


To commence the program, you will need to provide the following:

  • Completed Application for Enrolment Form
  • Copy of Drivers Licence
  • Copy of Trade Certificate / Card / Licence
  • Copy of Reference Letter
  • Copy of Detailed Resume



Along with your Application for Enrolment Form you will need to complete a Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital Skills Assessment


Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive a Proof of Enrolment which is required for you to complete your ARC Trainee (Classroom Only) Automotive Air Conditioning Licence (CL000) application.

If you hold a Certificate III Qualification you MAY be eligible to obtain an Automotive Air Conditioning Licence with a ‘No Retrofit or Modify’ by undertaking a Statement of Attainment for the following units:

  •    AURETU103  Service air conditioning and HVAC systems
  •    AURETU104  Diagnose and repair air conditioning and HVAC components
